Jersey the Enchanted Isle by air from East Midlands or Humberside 8 Days 12 – 19 June 2021

The beautiful Channel Islands are ideally positioned in the mild waters of the Gulf Stream about 100 miles from the south coast of England. They enjoy a high level of sunshine all year round. Jersey, the largest island is only 14 miles from the French coast and is a fascinating blend of old and new. British, yet with a strong international influence. Liverpool City Break 2 Days 20 – 21 June 2021

The City of Liverpool has much to offer the visitor, including places made famous by the Beatles, Titanic White Star Line headquarters, the Cathedrals and much more.

YOUR HOTEL The Jury’s Inn is located on Liverpool’s Kings Waterfront adjacent to the Albert Dock and just a short walk from the popular shopping district of Liverpool One. Bedrooms are contemporary and spacious, all are en suite with television and all the modern day facilities you would expect. SUNDAY An early start sees us heading west to Merseyside arriving at Liverpool around lunchtime. An ideal way to see the city is to take a Mersey Ferries short cruise and enjoy the views of the waterfront including the famous ‘Three Graces’. Explore the Albert Dock and surrounding area or just relax after your journey and watch the world go by. Our overnight stay is at Jurys Inn, with bed and breakfast and there are lots of opportunities to obtain a drink and bite to eat

MONDAY After breakfast the morning is free for you to head out and explore Liverpool. If you are looking for retail therapy the excellent Liverpool One complex is the place to go. The city has some very interesting museums to visit and learn all about the past. We depart late afternoon for our return journey.

Llandudno Summer Break 5 Days 28 June – 2 July 2021

Linked by a long crescent shaped sandy bay nestling between dramatic limestone headlands, Llandudno has been a magnet in North Wales to generations of visitors who have revelled in its wealth of traditional attractions. Sightseeing, shopping, walking, eating or just resting.

YOUR HOTEL Family run Tynedale Hotel situated on the sea front, having used this hotel for many years it has become a firm favourite. The food is excellent in both choice and presentation. MONDAY Depart local pick up area or Kettlewell’s Yard and travel across the scenic Woodhead pass in Derbyshire and into Cheshire, stopping at Chester services for lunch on route. We arrive in Llandudno in good time to relax. Time for a stroll around make the most of happy hour in the bar before an excellent dinner.

TUESDAY A day at leisure in Llandudno, time for a deckchair on the promenade, visit the excellent shopping centre or go up the Great Orme.

WEDNESDAY A scenic drive via the Horseshoe Pass to Llangollen. After lunch we return via Betwys Coed where we shall make our second stop.

THURSDAY Today we have a lovely drive past Caernarfon then taking the coastal road towards Pwllheli then via Criccieth to Portmadog. Time here for lunch and shopping. Our return journey takes us past Betwys Coed and the Vale of Conway back to LLandudno.

FRIDAY After a leisurely breakfast we depart Llandudno mid morning, calling for lunch in Nantwich before continuing our scenic drive home.

Settle Carlisle Railway 2 Days 11 – 12 July 2021

The Settle-Carlisle railway line is one of the most famous in England. Half a million passengers ride on it every year, the majority of them for the sheer pleasure of journeying through some of the North’s most magnificent scenery from the comfort of the train. We also take in Skipton and more beautiful scenery through the Lake District.

MONDAY Our return journey home this morning gets under way with more beautiful scenery as we travel to the wonderful Lake District. Travelling via Keswick and Grasmere to Bowness on Lake Windermere, where we have time to have lunch, perhaps take a boat trip or just enjoy your surroundings before continuing our journey home, arriving in the early evening.

This morning we make our way to the Cumbrian market town of Kendal, home of the ‘mint cake’. Kendal is home to a fine selection of shopping arcades, boasts two castles, museums, a host of historical buildings and views that would please the most demanding photographer.

WEDNESDAY Today we head for the lakeside, first stopping at Bowness-on-Windermere. Enjoy the beautiful landscapes surrounding you and the views across Lake Windermere during our stop, perhaps visit the Beatrix Potter museum. You will relax over lunchtime here today. We continue to Ambleside, taking in the picturesque town with its wide variety of independent stores, museums and cafes. Later, we return to the hotel taking in magnificent views as we cross through the national park to Kendal.

THURSDAY Today takes us into the North of the Lake District, travelling via Glenridding and Ullswater until we reach Keswick, the capital of the North Lakes area, where we also enjoy lunch. There is plenty to do and see here, perhaps visit the Keswick Museum or visit the Keswick Brewing Company during our stop. We return to the hotel, stopping in Grasmere. This small, but very well-known village is the perfect place to stretch your legs or perhaps enjoy a drink before we continue on.

Friday Sadly we leave after breakfast and begin our journey home.

Eastbourne 5 Days 24 – 28 August 2021

The elegance intended by the 7th Duke of Devonshire when he designed Eastbourne in 1834 still survives. Private houses, good hotels and banks of flowers are to be found along the three mile level Esplanade, while at its centre is the Wish Tower and several theatres. There is an excellent shopping centre. I always think Eastbourne is how holidays used to be! The warm welcome at the Haddon Hall Hotel and the beautiful Sussex countryside make Eastbourne the perfect venue for Kettlewell’s South coast holiday.

YOUR HOTEL The Haddon Hall Hotel is enviably situated at the seafront end of Devonshire Place, a broad lined tree avenue which links the main promenade with the town centre. The bandstand is located across the road from the hotel. All of the well furnished bedrooms have private facilities with colour TV and tea and coffee makers. THURSDAY A morning visit to Battle, a small historic town, with interesting shops and an Abbey which is open to the public. We shall then continue to Bexhill to round the day off.

FRIDAY Today we visit the lovely town of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

SATURDAY All too soon we must leave Eastbourne after breakfast and head North. We shall make a lunch stop and reach Retford late afternoon.

There is a maze of intriguing side streets with a rich variety of specialist shops and welcoming cafes and pubs in which to relax.

Thursday A short ride takes us to the small resort of Hythe. Here we join the worlds famous Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway – Kent’s mainline in miniature. The train takes us alongside Romney Marsh to New Romney where we take a short break and re-join the coach to continue to ancient Rye, one of the Cinque Ports, now some distance from the sea!

TUESDAY Today we head for Longtown and drive along Liddesdale as we make our way to picturesque Kielder Water and Forest Park. We take a break at the visitor centre before continuing to Bellingham and Hexham, dominated by the Abbey overlooking the market square. This afternoon we return along the path of Hadrian’s Wall, which stretched some 76 miles from the Tyne to the Solway, in time for a chance to relax before dinner and tonight’s festive entertainment.

WEDNESDAY This morning we have a drive to the nearby historic Border City of Carlisle. The city has much to offer the visitor – Carlisle Cathedral, founded in 1122, is one of the smallest in the country, the 900-year-old castle, built to keep out the Scots, and the Tullie House Museum, detailing the city’s history. The Lanes shopping centre is at the heart of the pedestrianised city centre, with chic boutiques to well-known High-Street names. We make our way back to the hotel for tonight’s special Tea Dance, this one features a visit from Santa, bearing a present for those who have been good! Traditional Christmas Turkey dinner is served with all the trimmings and a glass of wine, with more festive entertainment to follow.

THURSDAY
Border Country is our excursion today. We head north into Scotland and the pleasant town of Moffat, with its connections to the wool trade, for a short break before continuing into the mountains, past picturesque St Mary’s Loch, to Selkirk. The Royal Burgh of Selkirk is one of Scotland’s oldest burghs and has associations with William Wallace, Bonnie Prince Charlie and writer Sir Walter Scott. From here we head for Hawick and Gretna, where we have a brief stop before returning to the hotel for our final night of entertainment.

MONDAY Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to Carmarthen and arriving late afternoon at Ivy Bush Royal Hotel. Tea/coffee and Welsh cake on arrival.

TUESDAY This morning we travel west to the popular holiday resort of Tenby. With the old town walls, interesting little side streets and alleyways to explore and superb beaches. We have time for lunch in Tenby before we are on our way to Picton Castle and Woodland Garden. Regarded as Pembrokeshire’s finest stately home and gardens. There are 40 acres of some of the most beautiful gardens and grounds in West Wales.

WEDNESDAY Leaving the hotel we head south through Kidwelly and make our way to the picture postcard resort of Mumbles, delightfully located on Swansea Bay. We have time for a look round and to obtain lunch. This afternoon we have a short drive to the Gower Heritage Centre at Parkmill. Here we meet our guide for a tour taking us to the beautiful unspoilt scenery of the Gower Peninsula, designated an ‘Area of outstanding natural beauty’. After the tour we return to the Heritage Centre and enjoy a Gower Cream Tea.

THURSDAY Today our excursion takes us via St Bride’s Bay and Newgale Sands to the magical place of St. David’s, birthplace of the patron saint of Wales. St. David’s has a beautiful Cathedral, the smallest in Great Britain, well worth a visit. From St. David’s we head around the Preseli Mountains back to hotel.

FRIDAY After breakfast we leave and begin our homeward journey.
