Eastbourne 5 Days 24 – 28 August 2021

The elegance intended by the 7th Duke of Devonshire when he designed Eastbourne in 1834 still survives. Private houses, good hotels and banks of flowers are to be found along the three mile level Esplanade, while at its centre is the Wish Tower and several theatres. There is an excellent shopping centre. I always think Eastbourne is how holidays used to be! The warm welcome at the Haddon Hall Hotel and the beautiful Sussex countryside make Eastbourne the perfect venue for Kettlewell’s South coast holiday.

YOUR HOTEL The Haddon Hall Hotel is enviably situated at the seafront end of Devonshire Place, a broad lined tree avenue which links the main promenade with the town centre. The bandstand is located across the road from the hotel. All of the well furnished bedrooms have private facilities with colour TV and tea and coffee makers. There is a spacious lounge, ballroom, cocktail bar and some entertainment. There is a lift , although some rooms have a few steps to them.

TUESDAY We set off in the morning from Retford and local pick up points and head towards the south coast making a stop at lunchtime.

WEDNESDAY A day of leisure in Eastbourne. There is much to fill up the time – shopping, relaxing on the promenade, the Museums, the Pier, Redoubt fortress, sit in a deckchair and listen to the brass band on the promenade – to suggest but a few possibilities.

THURSDAY A morning visit to Battle, a small historic town, with interesting shops and an Abbey which is open to the public. We shall then continue to Bexhill to round the day off.

FRIDAY Today we visit the lovely town of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

SATURDAY All too soon we must leave Eastbourne after breakfast and head North. We shall make a lunch stop and reach Retford late afternoon.
