Kent is a county of many contrasts from historic Canterbury with its famous Cathedral to the historic naval dockyard to the marshlands of the south.

YOUR HOTEL The Bridgewood Manor Hotel & Spa, Chatham, is renowned for its fine food and service. Hotel facilities include Squires restaurant, open plan lounge and relaxing bar. SUNDAY Depart from your home area travelling east and arriving at Bridgewood Manor Hotel late afternoon.

MONDAY Our day begins with a ride to delightful Faversham. Faversham is one of England’s most charming towns with over 475 listed buildings and a good selection of independent shops. We have time to explore the town and have lunch. From here we continue to historic Canterbury. The City is dominated by the magnificent Cathedral, now a World Heritage Site, and the city centre, being very compact, is best explored on foot or by horse drawn carriage. There is a maze of intriguing side streets with a rich variety of specialist shops and welcoming cafes and pubs in which to relax.

TUESDAY This morning we head for southern Kent and the land of mysterious marshes and smugglers. First we come to New Romney. A Cinque Port since 1155, the Great Storm of 1287 changed the course of the River Rother and made New Romney an inland town. Next we arrive at Lydd. As we head inland spot the tower of St Mildred’s Church at Tenterden. Horatio, Lord Nelson’s daughter by his mistress Emma Hamilton, was at one time the vicar’s wife. Known as the ‘Jewel in the Weald’ the town makes an ideal place to finish the day.

WEDNESDAY Today’s excursion takes us first to Chatham and the famous Historic Naval Dockyard. This vast maritime heritage site offers the visitor much to see, with an abundance of historic buildings dating from 1704, three warships, dry docks, Royal Dockyard Museum and much more. This afternoon we visit the City of Rochester with its magnificent Cathedral and historic castle. Take a stroll along High Street and explore the old town and cobbled streets.

THURSDAY After breakfast we leave and head for home.

TORQUAY The largest and most famous seaside resort in Devon. With superb panoramic setting with wooded hills overlooking Tor Bay. The fabulous Templestowe Hotel, where every bedroom has a bath or shower en-suite, colour television, early morning tea making facilities. There is a lift to all floors some rooms have steps to them. MONDAY We set off in the morning from Retford and local pick up points and head towards the South West Coast making a stop for lunch on route arriving at our hotel late afternoon for our four night stay in Torquay.

TUESDAY Our day begins with a drive to the Hop Pocket Craft Centre and shopping village for our morning break before we visit Weston Cider Mill. Here we enjoy a guided tour, tasting and a light lunch. This afternoon we have free time in Hereford, with its magnificent Cathedral, before returning later to the hotel.

WEDNESDAY Today we begin with a ride around some of the villages in Herefordshire’s beautiful ‘Black and White’ villages trail with guided commentary throughout. Our route takes in delightful cottages, inns, shops in timber framed hamlets including Dilwyn, Weobley, Eardisley, Pembridge and Eardisland. We have free time in Leominster before returning to Malvern.

THURSDAY This morning we head for the City of Worcester where we have time to explore the city, with its imposing Cathedral well worth a visit. There are lots of opportunities to obtain lunch before we have a boat trip on the River Severn to round off the day. Return to Malvern for our final night.

FRIDAY After breakfast we leave and begin our homeward journey.

Linked by a long crescent shaped sandy bay nestling between dramatic limestone headlands, Llandudno has been a magnet in North Wales to generations of visitors who have revelled in its wealth of traditional attractions. Sightseeing, shopping, walking, eating or just resting.

YOUR HOTEL Family run Tynedale Hotel situated on the sea front, having used this hotel for many years it has become a firm favourite. The food is excellent in both choice and presentation. TUESDAY Depart local pick up area or Kettlewell’s Yard and travel across the scenic Woodhead pass in Derbyshire and into Cheshire, stopping at Chester services for lunch on route. We arrive in Llandudno in good time to relax. Time for a stroll around make the most of happy hour in the bar before an excellent dinner.

WEDNESDAY – FRIDAY There will be free excursions and entertainment and lots of fun to be had.

This hotel has to be one of the all time greats in themed-break holidays. Mock Christmas revellers will love the glam and the glitz of the Festive Celebrations – decorations, present from Santa for everyone, Christmas carols, sherry receptions, afternoon teas and live entertainment every night. Six course Christmas Dinner, late night buffets, Fancy Dress Parade, New Year Party. This is not the cheapest mock Christmas that you will see but with nothing but the best, surely excellent value.

After a leisurely breakfast we depart Llandudno mid morning, calling for lunch at Nantwich before continuing our scenic drive home.

WEDNESDAY “CHRISTMAS DAY”
This morning we visit Llandudno North Wales main holiday resort. The town is guarded by the great Orm and little Orm at each end of the promenade to find that elusive last minute gift! Here we have time for lunch before returning to our hotel in time to relax before dinner. Tonight we have a visit from Santa Claus.

THURSDAY “NEW YEARS EVE”
Today we enjoy a day out to the historic City of Chester. You can explore the ‘Rows’, a famous two-tier medieval shopping complex dating from the Middle Ages. Chester is famous for its many half timbered houses, and you can also enjoy a walk round the top of the red stone battlements of the City Walls, or you may fancy a walk down by the River Dee. Late afternoon we return to the hotel for tonight’s pre dinner bucks fizz before Dinner.

Thursford Christmas Spectacular 2 Days 22 – 23 November 2020

Set in the magical surroundings of mechanical organs and fairground carousels, with a cast of 130 professional singers, dancers and musicians – many of whom are West End performers. The three hour performance delivers an extravaganza of non-stop singing, dancing, music, humour and variety. It’s a fast moving celebration of the festive season featuring an eclectic mix of both seasonal and year-round favourites, with famous and much-loved chart toppers being sung alongside traditional carols.

Eastbourne Turkey & Tinsel 5 Days 7 – 11 December 2020

The elegance intended by the 7th Duke of Devonshire when he designed Eastbourne in 1834 still survives. Private houses, good hotels and banks of flowers are to be found along the three mile level Esplanade, while at its centre is the Wish Tower and several theatres. There is an excellent shopping centre. I always think Eastbourne is how holidays used to be! The warm welcome at the Haddon Hall Hotel and the beautiful Sussex countryside make Eastbourne the perfect venue for Kettlewell’s South coast holiday.

YOUR HOTEL The Haddon Hall Hotel is enviably situated at the seafront end of Devonshire Place, a broad lined tree avenue which links the main promenade with the town centre. The bandstand is located across the road from the hotel. All of the well furnished bedrooms have private facilities with colour TV and tea and coffee makers. SUNDAY ~ WEDNESDAY Lots of free time to explore the beautiful island of Guernsey. During your stay there will be a half day familiarisation tour of Guernsey and also there will be a tour to Herm Island which includes return transfers from the hotel and inter island sailing. Our local representative will be on hand to assist you with any local excursion bookings. The hotel is on the local bus route which will take you anywhere on the island. Alternatively you could hire a car and do your own thing.

THURSDAY You will be transferred to Guernsey Airport for the return flight to East Midlands where your Kettlewell’s coach will be waiting to return you home.
