Coastal Kent ‘Call the Midwife’ & Leeds Castle

Kent is known for its charming coastal towns each with its own unique character, historic sites and stunning natural beauty. Take in Chatham Historic Dockyard, which was a Royal Navy shipbuilding and repair facility for over 400 years.

YOUR HOTEL:  The Bridgewood Manor Hotel & Spa, Chatham, is renowned for its fine food and service.  Hotel facilities include Squires restaurant, open plan lounge and relaxing bar.  Spa facilities include gym, swimming pool and sauna.  Bedrooms are all en suite, and have television, hairdryer, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities.  The hotel has a lift.

THURSDAY:  Depart from your home area in the morning travelling to Kent and arriving late afternoon at Bridgewood Manor Hotel

FRIDAY:  After a leisurely breakfast we journey the short distance to Chatham and the famous Historic Naval Dockyard.  This is the filming location for the popular series Call the Midwife.  We will enjoy a guided call the midwife themed tour including access to the impressive new call the midwife exhibition.  After our tour you’re free to explore the abundance of historic buildings dating from 1704, three warships, dry docks, Royal Dockyard Museum and much more.

SATURDAY:  This morning we visit the town of Rochester with its magnificent Cathedral and historic castle.  Take a stroll along the High Street and explore the old town and cobbled streets.  We have chance to obtain lunch here and this afternoon we visit Leeds Castle, set on two islands on the River Len and home to generations of Lords and Ladies for over 1000 years.  We are transported through around 900 years of the castle’s history – in a sumptuous mix of period architecture, impressive interiors and family treasures.

SUNDAY:  This morning we journey to Margate – a timeless seaside town on the Kent coast combining old world charm with modern culture.  In the afternoon we drive along the coast to the seaside town of Herne Bay.  Where we enjoy free time to explore the seafront at leisure.

MONDAY:  After breakfast we leave and head for home.
